My name is Alan Lacy, and I’m a wildlife filmmaker, cameraman, and producer. I have filmed and worked on various productions for the BBC, National Geographic, Disney+, and PBS Nature. I have also produced several of my own films, working through the nonprofit I founded by the name of Reel Earth Films. I love connecting people to nature, and through film I have found my calling. I discovered my passion for wildlife filmmaking through a long rooted fascination with animals, and a sudden interest in making a difference for Mexican gray wolves here in the American Southwest. Over 10 years ago I decided to make a film about them, which launched me into the world of natural history filmmaking, and I fell in love with it.

Filming The Wild is all about bringing you behind the scenes and showing you what it takes to make a wildlife documentary. It is an ongoing series on YouTube that I decided to create so that people like you can follow along and enjoy the adventures, as if you are right there with me. Along the way, I will also share tips and tricks about setting up shots, how to plan a shoot, or simply the best way’s to find and film wildlife. It’s going to be a lot fun, so I hope you will join me on this exciting new adventure!
