Hello! Thank you for taking a moment to stop by and check out what Filming The Wild is all about! My name is Alan Lacy, and I’m a wildlife filmmaker, cameraman, and producer. Over the years I’ve come to realize I really love making films… but I never went to film school or any formal training in filmmaking. Instead, I learned by trial and error (though mainly a lot of errors!!), and have been lucky enough to learn that persistence and perseverance are key to making a successful film! In other words – a lot of blood, sweat, and tears! I’ve produced an award winning documentary on Mexican gray wolves – you can watch it here: video link – as well as many shorts about wildlife, and I currently am working on many new films through my organization, TLP Media.

Filming The Wild is an exciting new adventure. It is an ongoing series that takes a deeper dive into wildlife conservation as well as a closer look at behind the scenes of wildlife filmmaking. Along the way, I will also share tips and tricks about setting up shots, how to plan a shoot, or simply the best way’s to find and film wildlife. It’s going to be a lot fun, so I hope you will join me on this exciting new adventure!

Here I am after picking up the “Best Short Documentary Film” at the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience for my film “Gray Area: Wolves of the Southwest.”
