In Search of the Long Billed Curlew | Behind The Scenes of Wildlife Filmmaking

Join me as I search for long billed curlew while on location for a documentary film I am producing about burrowing owls. Long billed curlew were once numerous across North America, but due to hunting at the turn of the 19th century, and habitat destruction as we’ve built up cities and farmland have greatly diminished their numbers and are considered a rare bird. Curlew are the largest shorebird in North America and part of the piper family. This location where I am filming is a prime breeding ground for these curlew so I set off to film them. But they aren’t the only animals I encountered on this day, be sure to watch and let me know in the comments which animal you enjoyed the most!
