When You Don’t Roll | Behind The Scenes of Wildlife Filmmaking
When you don’t roll at all waiting for your subject to appear – this is often quite the case in producing wildlife films. I can’t even begin to count the number of hours, heck even weeks of time I’ve sat and waited for a particular species or shot to appear that I need for my shot list and never rolled the camera simply because it never materialized. Now there’s always things you can film, such as cutaways of the scene you’re in, but sometimes it’s simply a waiting game. I wanted to bring you along for some of the real true moments of wildlife filmmaking – when you don’t roll because your subject never shows. It’s only right to show all the failures of trying to get the shot also, as that is quite often the case in wildlife filmmaking.
