Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 7, 2026

Filming The Wild, operated by Alan Lacy, respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through filmingthewild.com, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

  • Information you provide: your name, email address, billing and mailing address, phone number, account details, course enrollment information, messages, scheduling requests, and other information you submit through forms or checkout.
  • Order and payment information: products purchased, order totals, transaction status, and related records. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers and are not stored directly by Filming The Wild.
  • Technical and usage information: IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, referral source, approximate location, and interactions with the website, subject to your cookie choices.
  • Course activity: enrollment, progress, completion, and account activity needed to provide LearnDash courses.

How we use information

We use personal information to operate the website, fulfill orders, provide course access, respond to questions, process 1:1 guidance requests, send service and order emails, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain security, analyze and improve the website, comply with legal obligations, and send marketing communications when permitted.

If you separately opt in to postal marketing during checkout, we may use your mailing address to send occasional relevant offers or information. Postal marketing consent is optional and is not required to purchase. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.

Email marketing

If you subscribe to emails or select the marketing option at checkout, we may send wildlife filmmaking tips, course updates, and special offers through Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential order, account, course, or scheduling messages.

Cookies and analytics

We use necessary cookies to operate features such as accounts, carts, checkout, security, and saved privacy choices. With your consent, we may also use statistics and marketing technologies, including Google Analytics and the Mailchimp site tracking pixel, to understand site use, measure conversions, and create relevant audiences or follow-up marketing.

You can accept, reject, or change non-essential cookie choices through the consent banner or the Manage Consent control on the website. More detail is available in our Cookie Policy.

Service providers and data sharing

We share information only as needed with companies that help us operate the website and provide services. These may include WordPress and our hosting providers, WooCommerce, LearnDash, Mailchimp, Google Analytics and Google Site Kit, Stripe, PayPal, email delivery and anti-spam providers, and embedded-content providers such as YouTube and Instagram. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate fraud or security issues, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money.

Retention

We keep order, payment, tax, and business records for as long as reasonably necessary for accounting, legal, fraud-prevention, and support purposes. Account and course records are generally retained while an account remains active and as needed afterward for legitimate business or legal reasons. Marketing information is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to suppression records needed to honor that choice.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may be retained where required by law.

To make a privacy request, email alan@filmingthewild.com. You may also use the cookie controls on the website to change consent preferences.

International visitors

Filming The Wild is based in Arizona, United States. If you access the site from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Where required, providers use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Children’s privacy

This website and its paid services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website, services, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are published.
