A Day in Joshua Tree National Park | Behind the Scenes of Wildlife Filmmaking

I recently spent a day in Joshua Tree National Park and challenged myself to make a short film from only one day of filming. In this video I talk about some of the processes that go through my mind when filmmaking, as it’s not just about pointing your camera at cool things… though sometimes that is fun. It all comes down to story, and capturing it the best way possible. It’s always a good idea to work from a storyboard or a script, but I wanted to test myself by being able to produce something on the fly, and keep my producing mind active while on location. So, enjoy this little behind the scenes look at wildlife filmmaking in Joshua Tree National Park.

All filmed on the Sony A7s III using the Atomos Ninja V for all the landscape shots, and the S&Q setting on the A7s III for the wildlife in 120fps. I used the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN and the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM for “Among The Joshua.” WATCH “AMONG THE JOSHUA” HERE: https://youtu.be/2g1I-sylbqc
